NEET 2026 result was declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on July 16, 2026. The NEET 2026 examination scheduled for May 3, 2026 was cancelled, and a re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026 – the result is based on that re-exam. The result of NEET 2026 is available on the official website of NTA. To download the NEET 2026 result, candidates need to log in to their registered accounts on the official website. NEET scorecard can also be downloaded using the same method. Candidates must note that the result of NEET 2026 will not be sent by post under any circumstances.
The NEET syllabus is notified by the National Medical Commission (NMC) through its Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), which finalised the NEET 2026 syllabus with no chapters removed relative to NEET 2025. For those preparing for NEET 2027, the focus should be on thorough Exam Preparation. NEET syllabus is divided into four subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Students need to complete all chapters of the NEET Syllabus in order to score a good rank in NEET Exam. Also, it is important to know steps to register for NEET application form. The NEET 2026 result was accompanied by the release of the final answer key. The result of NEET 2026 is final. NTA does not entertain any requests for re-evaluation of the answer sheet post the declaration of the NEET 2026 result. The role of NTA is limited to the release of NEET result 2026 and preparation of the merit list. Candidates who qualified NEET 2026 are eligible to participate in the counseling process conducted at both state and national level.
It is important that the person scores minimum qualifying marks. The scorecard for NEET 2026 contains candidates’ All India Rank (quota and category), overall & sectional marks and percentile. The counseling procedure started after the result declaration.
NEET Qualifying Percentile
- For the Unreserved category, the qualifying percentile is the 50th percentile
- For General-PwBD candidates the qualifying percentile is the 45th percentile
- For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ OBC-NCL the qualifying percentile is 40th percentile
- The marks obtained by candidate decide the rank of the candidate in All India Medical Entrance
- It is important to note that the candidate can only check their result online and will not be sent by post or any other method.
- The NEET cutoff basically helps candidates to know whether they have qualified the NEET entrance or not, and this will decide admission in medical college
- In the case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in NEET, the inter-se-merit of such candidates will be determined in order of preference as follows:
● Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology
● Candidates securing higher marks in Chemistry
● Candidates with less number of attempted wrong questions in all the subjects
● Candidates older in age will be preferred

How to check NEET Result?
NTA announces NEET Result online after evaluating the answer sheets thoroughly. The steps to check the NTA NEET Result are given below:
- Visit the official website of NEET at neet.nta.nic.in.
- Click on NEET Result.
- Enter the required credentials to get NEET Results.
- Enter your NEET credentials – Roll No. and Date of Birth and then submit it after verifying the entered details.
- NEET Result will be displayed on the screen.
- Download and take a printout of the NTA NEET Score Card.

NEET Result 2026 and the Merit List
After the declaration of result, NEET 2026 merit list is prepared by the exam authority on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the NEET-UG exam. NEET-UG merit list has All India Ranks of the candidates. Apart from the merit list released for All India Quota counselling, a separate merit list for NEET-UG is released state wise. The merit list of NEET 2026 consists of the names and ranks of the candidates who successfully clear the entrance exam. Candidates must note that two different merit lists of NEET 2026 are released by NTA. One merit list is for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and the other is for 85% State quota seats.
Multiple lists are released based on the category of the candidate. An overall NEET merit list is also released which has details of all the candidates who have cleared the examination. The merit lists of NEET are then shared by the NTA with the different bodies responsible for the counseling process. It is basis this NEET merit list, that the state and central seat allotment lists are prepared.
NEET Scorecard 2026
Candidates who qualify the examination can download the scorecard of NEET 2026 online. It is important to note that those who do not score above the qualifying examination will not be issued the NEET scorecard 2026. The candidate will require the NEET 2026 scorecard during the counseling process, thus, they are advised to keep it safe till the admission process is over.

What happens when two or more candidates secure the same marks in NEET 2026 Result? Owing to a large number of test-takers, it is not rare for two or more candidates to secure the same marks in this examination. However, such candidates cannot share the same rank in NEET 2026 merit list. Hence, NTA has a tie-breaking mechanism in place for such situations. The following parameters are considered in case of a tie:
NEET Result 2026: Tie-breaking Protocol
- Candidate with higher marks in Biology is given a higher order of merit compared to others
- If the marks scored in the Biology section are equal, a candidate with higher marks in Chemistry is given a higher order of merit compared to others
- If marks scored in Biology and Chemistry are equal, a candidate with a lesser number of incorrect answers is given a higher order of merit
- Lastly, if everything else is equal, the candidate senior in age will be placed higher in the order of merit compared to others
How to calculate NEET Score?
The formula for calculating NEET Score :
NEET Score = (Total number of correct answers x 4) – (Total number of incorrect answers x 1)
NEET 2026 had 180 compulsory questions (45 Physics + 45 Chemistry + 90 Biology) with a total of 720 marks and a duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).

In terms of the number of applications received, the number of registrations from girls is higher than boys for NEET-UG exam 2026. Out of 13,32,914 registered female candidates, 6,54,049 qualified, while 4,67,134 qualified from 9,46,815 registered male candidates. In qualification rate terms, 56.8 per cent of the women who appeared qualified, as against 55.1 per cent of the men. More than 58 per cent of all qualified candidates in NEET 2026 are women.

OBC-NCL was the largest qualified group in NEET 2026, with 5,12,014 candidates qualifying, ahead of the General category at approximately 2.91 lakh. NTA publishes the complete category-wise breakdown (General, Gen-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwBD) along with the category-wise topper list on its official website.
NEET Result 2026: List of Toppers
Along with the result, NTA also released a list of NEET 2026 toppers. Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana jointly scored the highest marks of 715 out of 720, taking AIR 1 and AIR 2 respectively. No candidate scored a perfect 720. In total, 138 candidates scored 690 marks or above, and 19 candidates scored more than 700 marks. Kudale Shravani Krishna of Maharashtra, at AIR 5, was the highest ranked female candidate. The actual admission process begins after the announcement of NEET result.
